If you haven’t read Scott Adam’s blog (the creator of Dilbert) you should.  Not only does he create nose-milk-geyser funny comics, but he seems like the kind of guy that it would actually be fun to have a few drinks with on a Friday night.  His post today had me thinking, “I’d vote for him.”.

Today’s picture: Gennie, a Flickr friend, came to my birthday cocktail party in the studio and was kind enough to be our victim… I mean model.  Thanks, G!

Gennie Smiles... or Smirks.

The holiday weekend went well, with lots of cleaning, cooking out, and relaxing being done. We saw the new X-Men flick (grade: B+), cooked out at Mom’s place twice (really excellent chicken, btw), grilled out at a friend’s place in Wake Forest (great steaks, and an *awesome* dessert), got Taryn a new helmet for riding the motorcycle (IT ROCKS… pics to follow), gathered my new wardrobe of really nice golf shirts (bday gifts from Mom… *Thanks*!), mowed the grass, trimmed the hedge (at the apartments), cleaned the apartment (Taryn, not me), joined a new gym (I *will* be trim by fall), and threw a mighty fine birthday cocktail party for me (once again, Taryn, not me). The party was really well attended by lots of good friends and I want to take a second to A) thank Taryn for doing all the work and throwing the party for me, and B) thank all our friends who came to hang out with us for the evening! THANK YOU!!! All told, it was a darn good weekend… and now it’s back to the grindstone. With a short week, I have to find a way to get 6 days of work done in 4 days. Fun!

But His Laughter Was A Mask

The original intent of EngelFish.Net (the site formerly known as goatrodeo.com) was to keep in touch with my scattered friends and family, but with all the change (a new hosting service, new blogging tools, etc…) I’m taking some time to reconsider it’s purpose. I have never had a “mission statement” or anything similar for my site, and I’ve got two other sites going up (chrisengel.com for my commerical photography and veiledlight.com for my portrait/wedding/family photography), so I’m still thinking this will be more personal. I would really like to hear from you folks, my readers, what you’d like to see. What have you liked in the past, and what would you like to see in the future? Most of you know about my main interests, photography, movies, travel, running, food, books & short stories, podcasts, and DIY projects, so you know where I’m most likely to gravitate. Would you be interested in reviews of movies, books/audiobooks, and podcasts I’ve tried? Discussions of things photographic or fitness related? Recipies and commentary on restaurants in the area? Plans and reports on various DIY projects I’m working on?  Or just more of the same musings and reportings of what’s going on in my world?  So don’t just drop in for a quick read and leave unheard. Speak up and leave a comment I’m not asking for a dissertation on the fruitlessness of vanity websites, just a quick one-liner sharing your thoughts on what it takes to make a webpage part of your daily online life.  Thanks!

Giraffe in Talla Valley

I broke up with old hosting service, and now I’m with a new one.  The site will go through some changes, that’s for sure.  Keep checking back to see how things grow!
