Unpacking

Last night, while Taryn made us a terrific curry dinner, I tried to unpack a few crates of books. The bookshelf was already full when I started, so I knew it would be a battle. After some decision making and reorganizing I was able to get everything on the shelves, but I realized that we need more bookshelf space. The “Purple Room”, once renovated, floored, & repainted would be an excellent place for built-in bookshelves. I may have a new project for the already extensive list.
In addition to having a full bookcase, I also have a small pile of books to donate to the local used bookshop. Some I’ve read, and some I’ve lost interest in reading. Luckily they are mostly from the local library’s annual sale, so they weren’t a huge investment in the first place. Of course, until I get a chance to swing by that bookstore, they’ll sit in my passenger seat for a few days, causing people who park next to me to peer in the window and wonder what kind of person I am based on the kinds of books I read.
I also realized how many books on the shelves were bought but never read. I took a pile up to my nightstand, and Taryn just groaned. I already had one pile there, and she knew that it would mean even more hours of lost sleep while I did my “hour before going to sleep” reading. I may have to put together a “reading area” for the house so I don’t disturb her sleep. Of course, I could just read to her like I’ve been doing the past few weeks. My voice is, apparently, a narcotic which puts her to sleep in under 5 minutes. Of course, I could just be boring her into unconsciousness…
Oh yeah, and I’ve put up an ad for the house we have for sale. Check it out and spread the word!
IMAGE: Saturday afternoon we met up with a few Flickr friends for lunch and a picture taking stroll around the mall. We lunched at Twisted Fork, and I liked vibrant colors of the plate with lemon slices.
