Thomas Hawk has posted about a great deal on Compact Flash cards.  It’s worth checking out before the end of May!

Thomas Hawk’s Digital Connection: 8 GB Sandisk Extreme III Memory Card for $89

I was really impressed with this “Trash the Dress” idea.  Coincidentally, this past weekend I assisted Tommy Gooch with a glamour shoot in Corolla, NC, and one of the shots us waing into the water on a boat ramp.  Tommy had the model submerge herself while wearing a white dress and then come up for her photos.  I haven’t seen the final images yet, but they looked terrific on the LCD.  Between this idea and the Strobist blog (where I found Matt Adcock’s wedding photography blog & studio site) I’m thinking seriously about investing in a few more small strobes.

If, like me, you find yourself drawn to portrait photography, then this article will be interesting to you.  It reviews the works and philosophy of several famous portraitists.  I was drawn to the work of Annie Leibovitz, Albert Watson, Michal Chelbin, Matthew Rolston, Hendrik Kerstens, and Nigel Parry.

This is an interesting NYTimes article on Absinthe.  Long illegal in the US because previous recipies contained a toxic chemical, it will finally be returning to our stores.  Viridian Spirits is marketing it under the brand name Lucid (LucidDrink.com).  Reformulated to remove the offending substance, tweak the flavor for the American palate, and maintain the distinct anise taste, this 124-proof alcohol is sure to be the hit of the summer cocktail crowd.  I was able to try Absinthe in South Africa last year, and can attest to it’s unique appeal.  While it is initially being released in NYC, it will be coming to a liquor store near you sometime soon.  I’d recommend sampling a glass with a friend.  You won’t be disappointed.
