When Your Drive Fails (20080303190332_0002)
Being the sorta guy who likes to get out and about for motivation, I’m finding that working from home has the unique drawback of being too quiet. I find myself missing the companionship of my peers, which is driving me to seek alternate sources of work related company. Lately I’ve been using Helios, a local coffee shop, as my downtown office. It’s worked fairly well, with the exception of internet access. Their wireless can get slammed when there are 9 or 10 other folks using it as well. It’s also difficult to conduct phone conversations when the barrista’s music choice is a pounding electroinca mix. I may have to learn to be more of a homebody, or start working in my car… parked in front of the coffeeshop like a stalker. Does anyone have any ideas on getting a public vibe in your life when you work from home? I’m open to suggestions.
