House

A few weeks ago, Taryn and I got a hammock for the back yard.  I have to say that I love our hammock and consider it a mandatory addition to any home.  What I hadn’t seen yet, though, was this video about how to make your own hammock with some rope and cloth.  Now that I’ve seen it, I *must* try it.  I’ll be rooting around our house for the supplies this weekend! :)

Last night we enjoyed grilling steaks and sitting by the fire in our backyard.  The dogs and cats joined us, and Taryn wrote her blogpost on the laptop.  The day had been incredibly windy, with trees falling all over town, but the air was almost dead still on our cove-like patio.

What'cha doin'? (20070126172821_0020)

We had friends over for dinner last night, so we did steaks on the grill and roasted new potatoes.  The meal was, as always, great (thanks, Honey!).  Since we now have one, we decided to eat in the dining room on the front side of the house.  This wouldn’t normally be an issue, but we haven’t purchased curtains for the dining room windows yet.  So as we sat for dinner, it felt like we were on stage with an audience just beyond the dark windows.  Our neighborhood is quiet, moderately hilly, and sidewalk free, so the chances are slim of anyone A) being outside on our street & B) caring about what we’re having for dinner.  Regardless, I really feel the need to do some curtain shopping in the near future.

IMAGE: Xavier & Alex have decided that they like our back yard.  At least they like it when it’s warmish out.  They were listening to our neighbors dog bark, when I started snapping pictures.  The shutter noise got their attention and they looked my way.
